Ingredients
Sauce:
- 1/4 cup butter
- Chicken pieces 1 1/2 pounds, bone-in and skinless.
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- Half a cup of water
- 1 Tablespoon paprika
- Black pepper, 1 teaspoon
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 Tablespoons of all-purpose flour
Dumplings:
- Half a cup of water
- 3 large eggs, beaten
- Salt 2 teaspoons
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- All ingredients should be gathered.
- Fill a large pot full of water and bring it to a rolling boil on high heat. In a large bowl, combine water, salt, and eggs.
- Stir in the flour gradually to form a stiff batter.
- Pour some batter into the boiling water with the help of a large spoon, and then scrape it there with another spoon. Repeat this process until you have cooked several dumplings.
- Cook until the dumplings rise to the surface, approximately 10 minutes. Drain in a sieve or colander using a slotted teaspoon. Rinse again with warm water. Repeat the process to make all remaining dumplings.
- A large skillet on medium heat should be filled with melted butter. Add the chicken and cook for 3 to 5 minutes on each side until it is lightly browned.
- Add onion to the pan and cook for 5-8 minutes until it becomes translucent.
- Add salt, pepper and paprika to the water. Continue cooking until the chicken no longer has a pink colour at the bone and the juices are clear. This should take 10 to 15 minutes. The instant-read thermometer should register at least 165° F (74° C) when inserted near the bone. Keep warm. Remove the meat from the skillet.
- Finish the sauce by mixing sour cream and flour in a small dish until they are well combined. Add the sauce to the pan and stir slowly to mix. Stirring constantly, bring to a rolling boil and continue to cook for 2 to 3 mins.
- Pour gently spoon the dumplings into the sauce, and then stir them to coat. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce is heated through.
- Serve the chicken, dumplings and sauce on plates.
