Caesar Salad

I’m calling it: These are a hassle to make. They require a lot of dirty pots and pans for just one salad.

  • The dressing is made in a food processor, and the mayo can make it greasy. This makes the dish difficult to clean.
  • Baked croutons in a baking tray
  • Skillet for bacon
  • Cutting board
  • Tossing the salad in a giant bowl is necessary when you are using a creamy dressing. You can’t use the serving bowl.
  • Serving Bowl

All this for just ONE salad.

We still do it. It’s worth the effort! The creamy dressing is a must!

Caesar Salad

What is in this Salad?

The classic recipe is made using:

  • Cos lettuce, also known as romaine or iceberg, can be used in a pinch.
  • Crisp bacon
  • Croutons are garlic croutons!
  • Caesar Salad Dressing
  • Parmesan cheese for finishing

Salads with rich dressing, even a “plain” Caesar, can be served as a meal on their own. Chicken and eggs are a popular addition to the menu at bistros. These are optional, but they add protein and make it more filling.

Homemade Caesar salad dressing recipe

If you’ve never tried this recipe before, you’re in for a real treat. This dressing is sensational and cannot be compared to the best gourmet stores.

Anchovy is the secret ingredient. Anchovy is the secret ingredient. This secret ingredient will transform a “pretty decent” dressing into one of restaurant quality!

Oh, and PS. You ate anchovies if you loved Caesar Salad at a restaurant. Stop scrunching your nose!!

Make Caesar Salad

Here’s how you can make it. I’ve already warned you that there will be a lot of dishes to do. TOTALLY worth it!)

Is it healthy? Yes…and no!

Let me dispel any notion that, this salads are healthy. The dressing contains fat, as does the bacon.

What do you think? It doesn’t matter how many calories I consume as long as I get lots of greens in my body, right??

You can also think of it like this: a huge bowl of this Salad may have the same amount of calories as a creamy spaghetti, but it has a lot more nutrients!

Low Cal version!!

If you are reading this and dreading how many calories you will see when you scroll to the recipe, DON’T WORRY. The following recipe is for a (much) lower calorie Yogurt Caesar Salad Dressing.

It has the same flavour but is made using yoghurt instead of mayonnaise, so there won’t be that rich mouthfeel. It’s still creamy and has the same rich flavour, but it is much healthier.

Is this the low-fat version? NOPE!

After all that, you can enjoy one of the best salads ever created.

The crisp, fresh lettuce. The garlicky croutons. Bacon pops with a salty kick. The creamy Caesar salad dressing.

It is worth the time it takes to prepare Caesar salad. Cross my heart, really, truly.
